Priester Aviation has been awarded both Air Charter Safety Foundation (ACSF) and Wyvern Wingman certification. The ACSF certification uses accredited, independent auditors to evaluate aircraft management and jet charter companies’ compliance and safety protocols. Priester Aviation, based at Chicago Executive Airport (KPWK), also carries an Argus Platinum rating, as well as IS-BAO certification.

EagleMed has installed an automated weather observing system at Eagle Pass, Texas, that will allow the air medical operator’s fixed-wing aircraft to serve patients in the San Antonio region during inclement weather. EagleMed bases a King Air C90 at San Marcos, Texas, to serve the Eagle Pass area. The new weather system will also serve EagleMed’s sister companies, AirEvac Lifeteam and Reach, which base medically outfitted helicopters at Eagle Pass, Pearsall, Carrizo Springs and Laredo.

Textron Aviation confirmed to AIN that it will terminate flight operations at its former fractional and charter/management operation, CitationAir, on October 31. The move comes 2.5 years after CitationAir stopped selling fractional shares in new aircraft and ceased renewals for current fractional-share customers in February 2012, saying at that time it would instead focus on its jet card and aircraft management products. The company is now abandoning even that modest plan.

The crisis in Ukraine “undermined” business aircraft flying in Europe last month, with European flights to the CIS down 24 percent and East-West European connections down by 15 percent, according to the latest data from business aviation research and consulting firm WingX Advance. Overall, there were 68,048 business aviation flight departures in Europe last month, a 2.7-percent year-over-year decline, with July 11 percent below its 2008 peak and the least active July on record since 2005. Year to date, activity in the region is 0.7 percent below the 2013 trend.

Brazilian Socialist Party presidential candidate Eduardo Campos was among seven people killed aboard a Cessna Citation XLS+ that crashed around 10 a.m. yesterday while trying to land at Guaruja military air base, near the city of Santos. The Santos fire department confirmed that 11 people on the ground were injured when the aircraft crashed into the Boqueirão residential area, damaging five properties. The twinjet was destroyed by impact and a post-crash fire.

The FAA announced it will formally re-examine the certification standards for helicopters under FAR Parts 27 and 29. Currently Part 27 helicopters must weigh 7,000 pounds or less and have no more than nine passenger seats. Helicopters that weigh more than 7,000 pounds and have 10 or more seats fall under the more stringent Part 29.

Honda Aircraft today named Banyan Air Service of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., as the new HondaJet dealer for the Southeast U.S. The appointment replaces Tallahassee, Fla.-based Flightline Group, which was originally selected as the HondaJet dealer for this region in 2006. Banyan, based at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport, will provide HondaJet sales and service for Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee and South Carolina.
