Embraer remains on target for its annual delivery forecast, according to the Brazilian airframer. Speaking during a second-quarter earnings call this morning, CFO José Filippo said the company still expects to meet its goal of delivering between 105 and 120 executive jets for the year. He noted the manufacturer delivered 49 business jets (39 Phenoms, eight Legacy 600/650s and two Lineage 1000s) in the first half, 29 of them in the second quarter.

Sikorsky expects the FAA to certify a higher mtow for its S-92 medium-twin helicopter this fall. The maximum allowable takeoff gross weight of the aircraft is being increased from 26,500 to 27,700 pounds, thus allowing operators to carry an additional 1,200 pounds of payload.

Germany-based aeromedical and air rescue helicopter operator DRF Luftrettung took delivery of the first Airbus Helicopters EC 145T2 today during a ceremony at the aircraft manufacturer’s production facility in Donauwörth, Germany. DRF has a firm order for 20 EC 145T2s, which will gradually replace its BK 117 and Bell 412 fleets over the coming years. Two DRF pilots will soon ferry the new helicopter to the operator’s maintenance facility at Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport, where the EC 145T2 will be outfitted with medical equipment.

Boston Executive Helicopters’ long-planned FBO at Norwood (Mass.) Airport is stalled again amid allegations of ethical and criminal misconduct by members of the airfield’s administrative body, the Norwood Airport Commission. The company claims this infighting is intensifying a campaign being waged by certain members to thwart the planned FBO. City and state ethics and rulemaking officials are reviewing requests by the company to investigate the purported improprieties. Members were unavailable for comment, but documents obtained by AIN corroborate some of the allegations.

Genesys Aerosystems’ HeliSAS helicopter stability augmentation system (SAS) and autopilot received STC approval for retrofit installation in Robinson R44s. HeliSAS’s two-axis autopilot allows for heading and nav hold, as well as vertical speed and altitude hold. The system operates during all phases of flight so it can maintain or recover a neutral attitude automatically when the pilot releases the cyclic; the pilot resumes full control simply through normal cyclic handling.

National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) member and pilot Dr. Earl Weener told attendees at an EAA AirVenture 2014 forum on Wednesday that the safety of corporate aviation is “very good and getting better.” He said personal general aviation flights continue to account for the majority of aviation accidents, and most of those are caused by a loss of aircraft control in the air and on the ground.

Embraer will begin assembling its new midsize Legacy 450 and 500 business jets at its Melbourne, Fla. campus by 2016, build a major new plant expansion there and add 600 jobs. Company executives announced the moves here at AirVenture on Wednesday. Embraer Executive Jets senior vice president Jose Eduardo Costas added that certification of the fly-by-wire Legacy 500 is “imminent.”

American Champion Aircraft (ACA) announced on Wednesday at AirVenture that it would offer a diesel-powered version of its Denali Scout two-seat utility model, likely by 2016. The aircraft is currently powered by a 210-hp Lycoming IO-390.
