NTSB Updates 2005 Preliminary Results

In its latest update, issued last month, the NTSB said the number of people killed in all aviation accidents last year dropped to 616 from 652 in 2004. Airline fatalities increased from 14 to 22, while Part 135 deaths dropped sharply from 64 in 2004 to 18 last year.

EFIS Upgrade Launched for Falcon 10

Elliott Aviation is working on a Universal Avionics 890R EFIS installation for the Falcon 10/100. STCs for the EFIS and additional avionics are expected by the end of September, after which Elliott will apply for EASA certification.

Reports of cracks found on the rudder-pedal arm assemblies of two Raytheon Beech Premier I light jets have prompted a proposed AD that mandates replacing affected parts. The directive would apply to nearly 100 U.S.-registered Premier Is. Comments on the proposed AD are due by August 19.

Learjet 35/36 RVSM Group OK Expected

Avcon Industries expects to have FAA group approval for its RVSM equipment package for Learjet 35s and 36s by the NBAA Convention later this month. The Newton, Kan. company is also working with Stevens Aviation on a Universal Avionics glass cockpit for the Learjet 20 and 30 series.
