The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) issued a validation type certificate for the Sikorsky S-76D, allowing the U.S. manufacturer to begin deliveries of the helicopter to Chinese customers. The approval, announced yesterday at ABACE 2014 in Shanghai, follows earlier CAAC validation of the S-76A and S-76C models. More than 30 Sikorsky S-76-series helicopters currently operate in China. Yunnan Jingcheng Group will be the first company in China to take delivery of an S-76D, scheduled for this month.

Beidahuang General Aviation of Harbin, China, signed for a Beechcraft King Air C90GTx today at ABACE 2014, an order that was brokered through Textron Beechcraft’s channel partner in China, Avion Pacific. The C90GTx will join a fleet of nearly 90 business aircraft operated by Beidahuang General Aviation, which is a subsidiary of Chinese state-owned agribusinesses conglomerate Beidahuang Group. Beidahuang General Aviation plans to use the turboprop twin for personnel transport and aerial survey. The company’s fleet of helicopters and airplanes logs more than 10,000 hours per year.

Dassault Falcon saw greatly improved sales in China last year, and this year is shaping up to be strong as well, it said today at ABACE 2014. The company attributes this success in China to its investment in product support, marketing and customer service. Its customer service efforts are managed through Dassault Falcon’s wholly owned foreign entity, which is staffed by Chinese-speaking employees.

Honeywell’s long-term investments in the Asian marketplace are paying off, according to Briand Greer, the Shanghai-based president of Asia-Pacific for aerospace. “This is a big show for us with what’s happening with business and general aviation [BGA] in the region,” he said. Key Honeywell BGA programs in China include the LTS101 engine for Avicopter’s AC311 helicopter, which was certified by the CAAC last year and represents the first new airframe for that engine in many years.

The China Business Aviation Group (CBA) and Utica, N.Y.-based JetNet agreed to develop a program to provide the latter company’s aviation database and information services to business aviation users throughout Greater China. JetNet’s database includes information on airframes, engines, avionics and cabin amenities, as well as details on aircraft owners, operators, lessors, lessees, share owners in fractional programs and transaction histories dating back more than 25 years.

Pete Reynolds, 69, the former Bombardier Learjet chief flight-test pilot, died on Thursday. He will be inducted into the Kansas Aviation Hall of Fame–as previously scheduled, but now posthumously–tonight at a ceremony hosted by the Kansas Aviation Museum and Wichita Aero Club. Reynolds played a major role in the development, testing and certification of virtually every Learjet model between 1973, when he joined Learjet, and 2003, when he retired. He spent the last eight years of his tenure with Bombardier as the vice president of flight test.

Although Dassault Falcon Jet’s current line of business jets satisfies the needs of buyers who want large, wide cabins, there is no Falcon Jet that flies as far as the ultra-long range Gulfstream G650 or upcoming Bombardier Global jets. But that should soon change, as the Falcon family is slated to see an announcement about a new member at the EBACE show in Geneva next month.

The China Business Aviation Group (CBA) and JetNet of Utica, New York, will develop a program to provide JetNet’s aviation database and information services to business aviation users throughout greater China. The two companies signed an agreement to form the strategic alliance at ABACE 2014 on Monday.

Aerochine Aviation, an independent representative of Bell Helicopter for China, Hong Kong and Macau, signed a purchase agreement for five more Bell 505 helicopters yesterday at ABACE 2014. Shortly afterwards Aerochine signed another agreement to buy two more Bell 407s.
