Paul Lowe, Washington, D.C. editor for Aviation International News, accepted NBAA’s 2007 Gold Wing Award for journalistic excellence from Ed Bolen, NBAA president and CEO, at the association’s annual media breakfast yesterday morning.
The award recognized Lowe’s insightful and regular coverage of the issues, proposals and debates concerning FAA funding and, in particular, the long-running disagreement between the airline and business aviation communities regarding aviation user fees.
Lowe has been an editor with AIN, which also publishes NBAA Convention News, since 1992, when AIN cofounder and former editor-in-chief Jim Holahan hired him to cover the Washington, D.C. beat. Prior to this, Lowe spent nearly 20 years as a reporter and editor with The Morning Call, a daily newspaper in Allentown, Pa. He has held a private pilot certificate since 1980.
The NBAA Gold Wing Award is presented annually for excellent, accurate and insightful reporting on issues related to business aviation, by trade or nontrade media, in print, Web-based or broadcast formats..
