Air Methods appoints new COO

Aeromedical transport operator Air Methods (Booth No. 1043) on Thursday announced that Paul Tate will become its new COO effective March 31. Tate, who has been a member of Air Methods’ board of directors since August 2003, comes to Air Methods from Frontier Airlines, where he has been the executive vice president and CFO since October 2001.

Tate brings more than 20 years of aviation experience in financial and operational roles and holds an MBA and an undergraduate degree in economics from Northwestern University.

Previously, at Air Methods, the COO role was combined within the CEO position, but significant growth of the company over the past few years necessitated separating these functions.

Air Methods, based in Denver, is the largest provider of air medical transport services for hospitals. The company operates more than 330 helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft in its fleet.
