Air Royale President Leaves UK Charter Broker Group

Wayne Rizzi, president of Los Angeles-based aircraft charter broker Air Royale International, yesterday resigned as the U.S. chapter president of UK-based Baltic Air Charter Association (BACA), saying the group isn’t willing to implement guidelines that would “raise standards in the air charter broker community. Air Royale also has an office in London.

Rizzi was elected as BACA’s first U.S.-based president last year in an effort to recruit U.S. brokers as members of the group. He said he submitted stringent broker guidelines a year ago to the association’s board, including the use of Wyvern for auditing charter carriers, but maintains that BACA has not implemented any of them for fear it would mean losing some current members that couldn’t meet the higher standards.

This despite Rizzi’s advising the UK trade group last year that charter broker compliance would become a serious issue with the U.S. DOT in the near future, and “we’re [now] expecting some major changes in the way charter brokers deal with compliance issues. Upon leaving BACA, Rizzi joined the Air Charter Association of North America (ACANA), which, he said, “takes government issues, as well as broker ethics, very seriously.”
