AOPA, EAA Teaming To Protect General Aviation

The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) and Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) said last week that they will be collaborating on issues and programs that protect, support and foster general aviation. This effort stems from a meeting last Wednesday between EAA chairman and president Tom Poberezny and AOPA president and CEO Craig Fuller, as well as their senior staff members, to discuss how the groups can work more closely to support GA.

They agreed to a collaborative, three-pronged commitment to protect general aviation interests, promote GA safety and expand the general aviation community in the U.S. “This is a logical collaboration that makes sense for the greater good of general aviation,” Fuller said. “Each of our associations has been an effective advocate for GA.

But now…working more closely together at all levels to protect and [enhance] general aviation. AOPA and EAA leaders identified several “near-term opportunities for collaboration,” all of which will be evaluated over the next few weeks.

Additionally, the two groups agreed to host jointly a general aviation roundtable early next year that would include a wide spectrum of the GA community. More information will be announced in the coming weeks as details are finalized, they said.
