Bangor International celebrates 40 years

Maine’s Bangor International Airport celebrates four decades of commercial air service this year. To help with the festivities, the airport shared some neat photos from the past, including some of Amelia Earhart and President Johnson, as well as a watercolor painting from the Maine Air Museum located in the airport’s former Cold War-era missile assembly and maintenance building. The airport opened in 1925 but was turned into the Bangor Army Air Field in 1940 and didn’t resume commercial operations until 1968, when it became Bangor International Airport.
