Charter firm finds sweet spot in Egypt

Cairo-based Spot Air (Stand E740) is making its Dubai Airshow debut after announcing early this month the opening of a new office in Hannover, Germany. Spot Air is the exclusive general sales agent for the Egyptian A320 operator Almasria Universal Airlines and now can offer full charters and split-seat charters to German operators on routes to Egypt and the Gulf region. Spot Air also plans to offer a full range of flight support services to German and European carriers.

The opening of the Hannover office reflects the increasing levels of business and passenger traffic between Europe and Egypt, according to Spot Air, which dubs itself Egypt’s leading aviation services company.

“The opening of the new facility in Germany means that Spot Air can deliver a whole range of cost-effective services and charters to this sector the European market,” said Spot Air CEO Mohamed Hamed. “There is increasing demand on routes from Europe to Egypt, particularly around the Red Sea area. Spot Air is delighted to be in a position to meet this growth in demand and strengthen our links with European operators.”

Established in 2003, Spot Air offers a range of aviation services including executive air charter, ACMI operations, aircraft management, aircraft sales and finance, completions consulting and maintenance.

Serving airlines and business jet operators, Spot Air has built a reputation in particular for sourcing aircraft, support services and pricing. It acts as the sole agent for Egyptian Boeing 737-600 operator Midwest Airlines and carries out technical flight support for most Egyptian airlines. Meanwhile, over the past year Spot Air has completed more than 150 VIP flights with its fleet of business jets, which includes a Hawker 850XP.

Spot Air has participated in number of joint ventures, most recently with Astra Associated Charter in Italy. The company also supported a military operation in which it moved more than 3,000 soldiers.
