San Diego-based Crownair (Booth No. 1650) has acquired RoigWest Maintenance, a turbine aircraft maintenance and support center at Van Nuys Airport, the third busiest general aviation airport in the world, as well as West Coast Jet Services at McClellan Palomar Airport in Carlsbad. West Coast Jet Services will now be known as Crownair Aviation CRQ.
Crownair Aviation at San Diego’s Montgomery Field dates back to 1951, the year after the airfield was named in honor of John J. Montgomery, who first flew a glider in the Otay Mesa area of San Diego in 1883. Crownair began its current expansion with the purchase last year of IFR Avionics at Van Nuys Airport.
“Through these acquisitions, we will establish a greater presence in the U.S. Southwest that allows our business jet and GA customers access to high-quality maintenance and avionics services in four locations,” said Crownair owner Grant Murray, who formerly owned the Long Beach and Oxnard Million Air franchises. Crownair plans to expand to Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport in Arizona by 2010.
