EGAST establishes team objectives

The European General Aviation Safety Team (EGAST) published in April its Terms of Reference, which describe the organization’s objectives and structure. EGAST, the third element of the European Strategic Safety Initiative (ESSI), is a voluntary partnership among the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), other European intergovernmental bodies and the GA industry.

It aims to improve safety by establishing best practices and awareness for the industry (excluding rotorcraft operations, which are covered by another team). Its objectives are similar to those of the FAA Safety Team.

European Business Aviation Association chief executive Eric Mandemaker and European Council of General Aviation Support board member James Black have been nominated to be two of three EGAST co-chairmen (the third co-chairman will come from a national aviation authority or EASA).
