Petroleum Air Services (PAS) of Egypt plans to add a third Eurocopter EC 135 helicopter to its fleet and has taken out options for a further two. It received its first EC 135 in late 2007 and the second earlier this year. The aircraft are used to transport oil workers from the Egyptian mainland to offshore oil platforms.
The twin-engine EC 135 can accommodate one or two pilots and five to six passengers. It has a maximum takeoff weight of 6,250 pounds, a range of 254 nm and a maximum cruising speed of 140 knots. Its price new is about $4.2 million.
Overall, Eurocopter’s products account for 30 percent of the total world helicopter fleet. More than 10,000 Eurocopter helicopters are currently in service with some 2,800 customers in 140 countries.
Eurocopter is here at MEBA in Chalet No. 33. Though the company is not itself showing an EC 135 or other helicopters, Abu Dhabi-based Falcon Aviation Services is exhibiting a Eurocopter EC 130B4 in the static aircraft park.
