Embraer Backlog Soars to $20 Billion

Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer recorded first-quarter sales of $1.34 billion, an increase of nearly 61 percent year-over-year, and a profit of $85 million, the company said May 7. Embraer’s firm-order backlog at the end of March increased 8 percent over the previous quarter, to a record $20.3 billion, due to business jet and E170/190 airliner sales.

Embraer plans to deliver between 195 and 200 aircraft this year, including 10 to 15 Phenom 100s. Meanwhile, Embraer’s fourth flight-test Phenom 100 successfully concluded its cold-soak tests last month, marking another milestone in the twinjet’s maturity campaign.

Certification of the Phenom 100 is expected before the end of this year.
