FAA King Air Lands Gear Up

An FAA-operated King Air, N11, in late July landed gear up at Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) after a gear malfunction. After taking off from SLC and raising the gear, the pilot noticed that the three green gear lights went out and the red gear transit light illuminated.

He saw that the gear had not retracted and attempted to recycle it, but it failed to lock down. The tower said the gear appeared to be down, but it retracted upon landing.

The 60-amp thermal circuit breaker for the landing-gear motor had tripped. Neither of the two ATP-rated pilots was injured but the lower fuselage of N11 was substantially damaged.
