F’boro organizers to help launch Bahrain airshow

Farnborough International Limited (FIL), organizers of the Farnborough International airshow, will collaborate with Bahrain on a new airshow in January 2010.

The Royal Bahrain Air Show will take place over three days at the Sheikh Isa airbase in Bahrain. FIL will undertake the role of airshow organizer, providing technical and professional advice, as well as management and procurement services for the event. Civil Aviation Affairs (CAA) of Bahrain will manage the infrastructure of the show and links with local government agencies and businesses.

The airshow has been created keeping in view the extraordinary growth and development both in aviation and aerospace infrastructure in the Middle East, and the Gulf region in particular. The event will be focused on enabling buyers and suppliers to meet with visiting delegations from around the Middle East.

Exhibiting companies will primarily operate from luxury, purpose-built chalets and they will be able to position aircraft directly in front of these. Initially, there will not be separate exhibit halls although these could be added for future events. There also will be opportunities for customer demonstration flights and participation in a full program of flying displays.

“The show has been specifically designed with aerospace industry requirements and views very much in mind, as we have listened to what the industry really wants and expects from an aerospace event,” said Capt. Abdul Rahman Al Gaoud, undersecretary for the Bahrain CAA.
