Flying Colours Aiming for the Top in CRJ Conversions

Following the introduction of its “CRJ ExecLiner” program converting CRJ200 airliners to executive configuration, and selection as the primary completion facility for the Aerospace Concepts “Project Phoenix,” Canadian completion and refurbishment center Flying Colours has set its sights on becoming “the number-one choice in the CRJ conversion market. The Peterborough, Ontario company claims firm orders for 12 ExecLiners, expects to deliver the first one this month and has four more in various stages of completion.

The company also expects to receive its first Project Phoenix “donor” airplane this month. To accommodate the burgeoning market, the company is adding a 30,000-sq-ft completion and refurbishment hangar to the existing 90,000 sq ft of space and is planning a third hangar of 60,000 sq ft.

Plans also call for the addition of approximately 100 new employees. According to company president Sean Gillespie, Flying Colours owns the STC for an auxiliary fuel tank system designed specifically for the CRJ200 conversion and the system meets EASA and FAA requirements, including SFAR 88.
