Gulfstream definitely on a roll with g250, G650

Gulfstream Aerospace achieved significant milestones for not one but two new models–the G650 and G250–just weeks before the NBAA Convention opened, with both models taxiing toward assembled crowds under their own power for their respective public rollout ceremonies. Both jets are expected to make their first flights later this year and will be certified under new type certificates.
The $64.5 million G650, which will supplant the G550 as the company’s new flagship, made its debut on September 30 in front of a crowd that completely filled the G650 production hangar at the company’s Savannah, Ga. headquarters. The clean-sheet, fly-by-wire jet was launched in March last year. FAA certification for the 7,000-nmi-range G650 is slated for late 2011, with deliveries to follow in 2012.

Six days later, on October 6, Gulfstream and Israel Aerospace Industries introduced the first example of the $24 million G250 at IAI’s facility on Ben Gurion International Airport near Tel Aviv, Israel. The 3,400-nm super-midsize jet, which has its roots in the G200 and was launched by IAI and Gulfstream at last year’s NBAA convention, is expected to achieve certification and entry into service in 2011.
