Hawker Beechcraft late last week completed the sale of the majority of its wholly owned fuel and line operations to Signature Flight Support parent company BBA Aviation. The transaction included operations in Atlanta; Houston and San Antonio, Texas; Indianapolis; Tampa, Fla.; Wichita; and Van Nuys, Calif.
So far, six sites have been transferred to BBA Aviation, with the final sale and transfer of the Van Nuys facility pending the necessary regulatory approvals. Hawker Beechcraft will retain its factory-owned maintenance and customer support facilities at these locations.
Its operations in Little Rock, Ark.; Chester, UK; and Toluca, Mexico, were not part of the sale. The Wichita-based aircraft manufacturer said the deal, announced on February 22, will allow Hawker Beechcraft Services to concentrate on its core business–aircraft maintenance, repair, avionics and modifications–and invest in the further expansion of its existing service centers.
In fact, the company is beginning major expansion at its aircraft maintenance and services facility in Little Rock, while new facilities are planned for Indianapolis and Mesa, Ariz. With the addition of the Mesa facility, Hawker Beechcraft Services will have 11 service centers.
