In The Works: EADS Socata TBM 850

After AIN reported that EADS was considering selling its Socata division to French aerospace, defense, nuclear and automotive manufacturing concern Daher, EADS issued a statement asserting that “EADS Socata remains a key element of EADS, continuing the highly successful marketing of its general aviation aircraft product line, along with its production of aerostructures for business jets, regional airliners, mainline passenger jets and helicopters. EADS and Daher have already worked together, partnering in a proposal for work on the Airbus A350 XWB program.

“Depending on the outcome of the A350 XWB work package competition, EADS Socata and Daher will evaluate the future of their relationship,” explained the EADS statement. If the two companies do work together on the Airbus program, then Daher would likely become an EADS Socata shareholder, the statement continued, which would also help provide “resources to the development of both EADS Socata’s activities, the production of aerostructures and the general aviation aircraft product line.

Daher’s aerospace division has designed, developed and manufactured composite structural assemblies for Airbus, Eurocopter, Dassault and Embraer and recently won a contract to make composite structural parts for Gulfstream’s newly unveiled G650.
