Carlsbad, Calif.-based start-up aircraft manufacturer Spectrum Aeronautical has received a “significant fleet order” for its all-composite S-33 Independence light twinjet and S-40 Freedom midsize twinjet from Jetpool of Charlotte, N.C. Neither Spectrum nor Jetpool would reveal the number of aircraft involved in the transaction, the former due to a standing policy not to disclose sales figures and the latter because “we’re not trying to over-hype our business,” Jetpool CEO Ryan Stone told AIN. He said Jetpool plans to use the composite airplanes in its “shared ownership” program, which will initially use pre-owned Eclipse 500s and Citation CJ1s flown under Part 91 rules.
Jetpool expects to start receiving S-40s next year and S-33s in 2010.
