Famed aircraft and spacecraft designer Burt Rutan was the first passenger on a JetSuite-brokered Embraer Phenom 100 Part 135 flight earlier this week to his home base in Mojave, Calif. The flight was operated by Solana Beach-based Air by Jet, a Part 135 certificate holder.
JetSuite is acting as a broker for the Air by Jet-operated Phenom 100 flights, according to JetSuite CEO Alex Wilcox. This flight marks the second Phenom 100 operator to begin charter operations; Kansas City-based Executive AirShare made the first Phenom 100 charter flight on April 22.
JetSuite has a firm order for 50 Phenom 100s and options on 50 more and plans to take delivery of seven this year. “It’s great to see this finally come to fruition after two years of effort and delay,” Wilcox said.
“We have the first Phenom for charter in California. The airplane is so spacious and the costs so low that it is almost fully booked for June."
