People in Aviation November 2009

Scott Carson, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, will retire at the end of the year. He will be succeeded by Jim Albaugh, the former head of Boeing’s Integrated Defense Systems.

Carey Bond has been promoted from v-p and chief marketing officer to president of Sikorsky Global Helicopters. He will continue his duties as chief marketing officer.


Bend, Ore.-based Stratos Aircraft has named Alexander Craig its new CEO.Previously he served with Boeing, Rockwell, Honeywell and Williams International.


Industry veteran Bill Koch, most recently president and CEO of Imaginaire Private Jet Charter, has been appointed CEO of Rye Brook N.Y.-based management and charter provider Wayfarer Aviation.


Scott Taylor, most recently general manager of business and regional aviation marketing for General Electric Aviation, has been named senior v-p for the business aviation sector at Arizona-based service provider StandardAero.


Blair Sullivan, former director of Hawker Beechcraft’s King Air program, and Andy Biller, previously a regional sales director with the Wichita-based airframer, have joined newly formed Groom Aviation Sales as partners.


St. Louis-based aviation services provider Sabreliner has named John Kim v-p for planning and production control. He was v-p for program management and engineering with Sabreliner’s former Midcoast Aviation subsidiary.

UK executive helicopter service provider PremiAir has tapped Neil Gibson, former CEO of Tag Aviation Asia, to lead its charter and management business.


Keith Morgan has been appointed CEO of Tag Aviation Asia’s aircraft charter and management subsidiary. He was previously a corporate pilot and CEO of ab initio flight training provider Flight Training Adelaide. Tag Aviation also named Geoff Hopkins, previously Jet Aviation Singapore’s director of maintenance and general manager, director of maintenance for Tag Aviation Asia.


Middle East and UK-based business aviation service company Rizon has appointed Patrick Enz, a former v-p at Jet Aviation, its new group CEO. He succeeds Will Curtis, who has stepped down.


Private jet card provider Marquis Jet has promoted two of its executives. Company cofounder Henry Schachar, formerly president, has been appointed executive vice chairman. He will be succeeded by Ken Austin, most recently the company’s president of marketing and business development.


Gulfstream has hired Paul Palminteri as a pre-owned aircraft sales director, responsible for the Western U.S., Western Canada, Central and South America, Asia and Australia. He most recently served as v-p for aircraft sales for Leading Edge Aviation Solutions in New Jersey. The airframer also appointed John Liotta as Eastern senior regional sales manager for product support sales and named Luis Leal Midwest regional sales manager, product support sales, responsible for customers in Mexico and the Caribbean.


Aircraft broker Leading Edge Aviation Solutions has hired Andrew Stark, formerly of Par Avion, as v-p for aircraft sales. The New Jersey-based company also announced that Frank Janik has returned as v-p for aircraft transactions, and Mike Boyle came out of retirement to rejoin the company as v-p for European aircraft sales based in London.
