SEI Lands in Philadelphia

Servizi Elicotteristici Italini (SEI) has been a primary source of helicopter cabin completion and refurbishment for European manufacturer AgustaWestland, so when AgustaWestland decided to expand its helicopter assembly line in Philadelphia, SEI executives decided to move west. SEI of America, as the new company is called, opened a 12,000-sq-ft hangar at Philadelphia Northeast Airport late last year.

The company has already begun doing light maintenance and interior completions. It has delivered three finished Agustas and has four more in various stages of cabin finish.

The initial work by SEI of America is being done under the Agusta production certificate, pending receipt by SEI of its own Part 145 repair station approval. SEI plans to maintain its long-time relationship with Agusta, but also expects to begin doing helicopters by other manufacturers, as well as fixed-wing aircraft.

The company is looking for vendors on this side of the Atlantic and hopes to reveal an alliance with a U.S. partner in the near future.
