Sherwin-Williams has introduced chrome hazard-free quick-dry epoxy primer. The company says it is a high-performance, two-component corrosion-inhibitive epoxy primer that contains no chromate, dries more quickly and has a longer pot life than current paints. It provides “excellent adhesion to treated substrates,” meets U.S.
PPG Industries has added a new packaging unit to its coatings plant and aerospace application support center in Gonfreville, France. PPG is now able to offer customers in Southern Europe the benefits of proprietary Semco ready-to-use, disposable cartridges for storing, mixing and applying multiple-component adhesives, sealants, epoxies, polysulfides, polyurethanes and other materials that require mixing.
French plastics specialist Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics is showcasing materials made from its Meldin 7000 lightweight, high-temperature polymer on Stand E138 Hall 2B.
Sherwin-Williams’s JetFlex interior aircraft coatings were designed to improve the appearance of commercial aircraft cabins and cockpits. The products were formulated for optimum adhesion to composite surfaces, plastic, wood or metal. JetFlex is available in a range of low-gloss and flat colors in two formulations: solvent-based polyurethane enamel and water-reducible polyurethane dispersion.

Sherwin-Williams Aerospace Coatings has introduced a full line of primers that are free of chrome and lead hazards. The products meet three key industry requirements–faster priming application, protection of the aircraft substrate and compliance with OSHA standards for chromate and lead exposure.
Sherwin-Williams has developed a flexible epoxy-based putty designed for aerospace applications such as filling rivets, seams and spot repair areas on aircraft exteriors. Drying time for the new Fill Bond putty is two to six hours, significantly faster than the typical six to eight hours for competing products, according to Sherwin-Williams.
Sherwin-Williams has introduced its JetFlex interior aircraft finish, a solvent-based polyurethane enamel and water-reducible polyurethane dispersion coating that adheres to plastic, metal and composite surfaces. It is a low volatile organic compounds formula that contains no free isocyanates, lead or chrome. Further, the single-package formulation does not require a catalyst for application and can be air or force dried.
Swiss aircraft interior specialist Aerolite received a contract from Norway’s Lufttransport AS to outfit three AgustaWestland AW139s with emergency medical transport interiors. The helicopters will receive dedicated turnkey medical interiors including single- and dual-patient litters, integrated patient loading systems, cabinetry and system and equipment integrations.
The final two of six E-series hangars are nearly complete at developer MMU-FTC’s site at Morristown Municipal Airport, N.J. These units are both 50 feet deep by 70 feet wide. Their bifold doors are 65 feet wide and 20 feet high, able to accommodate virtually all small and midsize jets and helicopters up to the size of a Sikorsky S-76.
