There’s a new domain name on the Internet: dot-areo. Gulf Coast Avionics Corp. has announced the launch of www.GCA.aero, a departure from the mob of dot-coms and one that simplifies access to the company’s site serving business and general aviation. Dot-aero is the domain of aviation, a new name reserved exclusively for the aviation community.
Three years after its introduction by airline-owned information technology and telecommunications specialist SITA, the .aero domain name is expanding to become the development platform for Internet-based services that use the well-established
aviation naming and coding conventions.
Appropriately enough, the .aero Worldwide Web domain is sponsoring the Internet café here at EBACE. The Internet’s first industry-specific domain is growing in popularity among aviation companies wanting to set themselves apart from all the dot-coms, dot-nets and dot-orgs on the information super highway.
