TAG Aviation can now help its aircraft maintenance clients benefit from a supplemental type certificate that the European Aviation Safety Agency has granted for installation of high-Mach blended winglets for the Falcon 2000/2000EX and 900. TAG installs the winglets, made by Aviation Partners, at its Geneva Airport facility.
Aircraft painting company Straube’s Aircraft Service (Booth No. N3317) recently announced it expects to receive Part 145 repair station certification for its paint shop at the AgustaWestland parts and repair facility in Philadelphia shortly.
“The 145 repair certification encompasses a five-part process, [and] we are currently finishing up phase three,” explained Straube’s chief inspector Kevin Darabant. The company expects to receive certification by this summer, he added.
AJ Walter Aviation and Russia’s Engineering–The Aviation Maintenance Holding company have signed an agreement aimed at enhancing parts support and provision in Russia through the establishment of an exclusive consignment stock pool of Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 parts. These components will be housed centrally at Engineering’s facility at Moscow Domodedovo Airport. The agreement is considered the first venture of its type in Russia between a Western independent parts specialist and an independent Russian MRO provider.
Contrary to recent speculation in the financial press, EADS has no intention of reviving the merger talks with BAE Systems that were aborted last October. “It’s not on our radar; we’re both moving on,” said Tom Enders, CEO of EADS. “All the stars were aligned last summer, or so we thought. But at least one proved to be missing,” he continued, in a reference to the German government’s opposition to the merger.
The Indian Army has placed a $77 million order with Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) for 20 Cheetal helicopters, a re-engined variant of the Aerospatiale SA 316B Lama that was built under license in India as the Cheetah. The order is a short-term measure for logistics support to the Indian troops on the Siachen Glacier because of delays to the twice-bid competition for 197 reconnaissance and surveillance helicopters (RSH).
In presenting its annual results yesterday, European aerospace consortium EADS shed more light on Eurocopter’s performance last year. As of December 31, the French helicopter manufacturer’s backlog included 1,070 aircraft worth $16.9 billion. While this is steady in units, it reflects a 7-percent decrease in value.

Comlux Aviation Group had an “excellent” year in 2012 and is expecting even better in 2013, according to chairman and president Richard Gaona. While the company’s Zurich, Switzerland-based charter and aircraft management operation contributes the greater percentage of annual revenue, Gaona is especially encouraged by the growth at Comlux America, the group’s Indianapolis, Ind.-based bizliner completion and refurbishment center.
