EADS expects its Airbus unit to capture new gross orders for up to 300 aircraft this year, “even if it is becoming more challenging in the current market environment,” according to a company statement attached to its first-quarter earnings release. Looking back on European business aviation’s boom years of 2004 to 2008, new figures from the European General Aviation Manufacturers Association (EGAMA) show that during this period the value of its members’ combined deliveries climbed by 59 percent to peak at $12 billion last year. StandardAero and TAG Aircraft Interiors (Booth No. 651) announced at EBACE a joint venture for completions with interiors designed by the House of Versace. The latter will be responsible for content, design and style, while Standard Aero will manage logistics and technical aspects and act as marketing and sales agent. Actual completions will take place at StandardAero’s Springfield, Illinois facility.

Lufthansa Technik Switzerland (Booth No. 343) has opened its new executive/VIP cabin interior facility directly adjoining the company’s aircraft maintenance hangar in Basel. Formal opening ceremonies were held yesterday. The addition represents an investment of just over $3.6 million in the facility, which will be used for interior refurbishment of narrowbody aircraft such as the Airbus A319 family and the Boeing Business Jet.
