French operator Air Austral and Gulf carrier Qatar Airways are among several airlines revealed this week as previously unidentified Boeing customers. Both have announced earlier orders for two 777-200LRs, each deal speculatively valued at $501 million.
Airbus kept its steadily advancing order train rolling on the third day of the Dubai Airshow with a pair of modest, but nonetheless significant, announcements involving models ranging from the single-aisle A320 to the A380 superjumbo.
Air Austral selected the Engine Alliance GP7200 to power the pair of Airbus A380s it has ordered. Air Austral also chose Engine Alliance as its service provider to maintain, repair and overhaul its A380 engines as part of a 10-year fleet management agreement. The value of the deal, signed here yesterday, totals $240 million at list prices.
