The new Series 5000 full flight simulator that CAE inaugurated recently at its Burgess Hill training center near Gatwick is the first example of a new design intended as a more affordable alternative to the company’s established 7000 series.

Recent demand for younger airliners has ensured lease market buoyancy, but rental rates could fall if more operators release capacity or collapse under the pressure of fuel prices and scarce credit. Major lessor International Lease Finance Corp. (ILFC) has warned that air traffic growth might slow down, potentially causing “a negative impact on future lease rates.”
“A strong market for strong products” is driving growth at Bombardier Aerospace, according to president and chief executive officer Pierre Beaudoin. The Canadian group is increasing its 27,000-strong workforce even as it faces the challenge of achieving earnings growth targets subject to currency exchange fluctuations that have led it to outsource more work to lower-cost partners.
International Aero Engines comes to Farnborough celebrating the 25th anniversary of the landmark deal on March 11, 1983, between Rolls-Royce, Pratt & Whitney and Japanese Aero Engines to develop a brand-new engine–the V2500–to compete with the CFM56 to power the Airbus A320 family.
Six operators were represented at the first operators conference for the Airbus Corporate Jet (ACJ) held at the manufacturer’s Toulouse, France headquarters on September 14. In total, 15 pilots and managers made the trip, representing Aero Services Executive, DaimlerChrysler Aviation, Twinjet, the Italian and French government flight departments, as well as one other undisclosed operator.
Air France Industries is set to deliver its first completed Airbus Corporate Jet (ACJ) this month, with a second aircraft to leave its Toulouse, France completions center during the first quarter next year. Both ACJs are for undisclosed customers.

Airbus Industrie has added the Honeywell Pegasus FMS to the options list in the Airbus Corporate Jetliner (ACJ). The acceptance also includes use of Pegasus equipment in the A319, A320 and A321 single-aisle airliners and follows a similar agreement reached last year for use of the Honeywell FMS in the A330 and A340.
Qatar Airways is planning to use its new Airbus Corporate Jetliner (ACJ) to replace a pair of Falcon 900s used by the government and ruling family. It will also be operated on European summer-season VIP scheduled service to destinations such as London; Geneva; and Nice, France; as well as for charter or wet-lease operations in the winter.
EVAS Worldwide, an affiliate of Ramsey, N.J.-based Aircraft Services Group, said its $11,950 Emergency Vision Assurance System (EVAS) personal cockpit smoke-displacement unit received certification for use in the Challenger 600, 601 and 604. The company expects STCs to be awarded soon on the Global Express and King Air series. Approvals are also pending for the Falcon 50 and 50EX, Beechjet and Airbus A320.
