In collaboration with TAG Aircraft Interiors, Italian design house Gianni Versace of Milan continues to move into the business aviation cabin. The two companies joined forces in April last year and at the NBAA Convention that year introduced a prototype executive seat.

TAT Group subsidiary Sabena Technics has agreed to provide full A319 Airbus Corporate Jetliner support to the Armenian company Armavia. The Armenian State aircraft is slated to enter service this month.

Bombardier has selected Pratt & Whitney’s Geared Turbofan (GTF) engine for its proposed 110- to 149-seat C Series airliners in a deal the Canadian manufacturer claims “secures the best technology available.”

The FAA has amended an earlier Airworthiness Directive for all Airbus A320-series aircraft, requiring operators to modify elevator control systems to prevent vibration problems caused by excessive freeplay. The AD applies to the A319 (which is the basis for the Airbus Corporate Jetliner), the A320 and the A321.

UAE low-fare carrier Air Arabia yesterday ordered 34 Airbus A320 single-aisle airliners, with delivery to begin in 2012, and took options on an additional 15. Delivery of the aircraft will eventually more than triple the carrier’s current fleet of 10 leased A320s. Chief executive Adel Abdullah Ali, said Air Arabia’s fleet will double by 2010 and grow to 50 by 2015.

Saudi Arabian Airlines has signed a MoU for 22 A320 narrowbodies, heralding the eventual signing of the first order by the Kingdom’s flag carrier for Airbus airplanes in some two decades, Airbus announced here yesterday. The agreement allows the flag carrier to increase the order by eight aircraft of the same type.

Airbus and Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) signed a memorandum of understanding for the extension of an important supplier contract last Tuesday. A long-standing supplier to Airbus and other EADS business units, TAI manufactures nine single-aisle fuselage section skins per month, a rate Airbus wants to increase to around 15 sets per month.

Airbus yesterday signed an order for an Airbus Corporate Jetliner (ACJ) from C Jet Limited, a Hong Kong company owned by a private individual. The new bizliner will be managed and operated by BAA Jet Management, also of Hong Kong, which has placed orders for an ACJ and an A318 Elite. The C Jet ACJ will be the second such aircraft under BAA Jet’s management.
