The FAA has published a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) for an Airworthiness Directive (AD) that would affect about 1,082 Falcons on the U.S. registry, namely the Dassault Falcon 10, Fan Jet Falcon, Mystere-Falcon 200, Mystere-Falcon 20-C5/-D5/-E5/-F5, Falcon 2000, Falcon 2000EX, Mystere-Falcon 50 and 900, and Falcon 900EX.

The FAA today issued an Airworthiness Directive (AD) on Airbus A330s and A340s that requires replacing certain Thales Avionics pitot probes with certain Goodrich or newer-design Thales probes. The AD requires compliance within 120 days. It intends to prevent airspeed discrepancies, which could lead to disconnect of the autopilot and/or auto-thrust functions and consequent increased pilot workload.

The FAA will be publishing Airworthiness Directives (AD) and Special Airworthiness Information Bulletins (SAIB) in electronic format for distribution in lieu of paper copies. GovDelivery, activated in May 2007, is accessible from the Regulatory and Guidance Library (RGL).

The FAA has issued an Airworthiness Directive for Turbomeca Arrius 2F turboshaft engines, citing insufficient clearance between the P3 air pipe and the rear right bulkhead. According to AD 2008-NE-43, investigations have shown that both the P3 air pipe and the rear right bulkhead were compliant with the original approved design.

The FAA has issued an airworthiness directive (AD 2009-15-03) for Bombardier Global Express BD-700-1A10s and BD-700-1A11s. According to the AD, a bolt that connects the power control unit (PCU) to the elevator surface was found fractured in the assembly during a scheduled maintenance inspection.

The FAA has issued an airworthiness directive (AD) effective Aug. 13, 2009, for Pratt & Whitney Canada PW305As and PW305Bs installed on, but not limited to, Bombardier Learjet 60s and Hawker 1000s. The AD stems from mandatory continuing airworthiness information (MCAI) to identify and correct an unsafe condition on an aviation product.

Associated Air Center, a subsidiary of StandardAero, has completed the necessary modifications for compliance with the Federal Aviation Administration’s SFAR-88 Airworthiness Directive on its ninth BBJ equipped with DeCrane-PATS auxiliary fuel tanks. Associated Air Center will complete these mandatory modifications on seven other BBJs before the AD deadline of December 2009.
