Embraer has appointed two new regional customer support and services managers. They are Mathieu Faenne, based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Pedro Paiva, based in London, UK. As the company expands its authorized service center (ASC) network in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (the EMEA region), several new appointments have been made.
Embraer has received supplementary type certificates for the Phenom 100 belted lavatory from Brazil’s civil aviation agency (Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The approvals allow owners and operators who select that option to carry seven passengers, one more than allowed without the option.
Embraer Phenom 100, La Verne, Calif, Dec. 21, 2010–The Phenom 100 rolled off the end of 4,839-foot-long Runway 26L at Brackett Field Airport following a landing in rain. The aircraft suffered minor damage when it came to rest in mud. The two-person flight crew and three passengers were uninjured. According to an airport spokesman, the pilot said he did not believe he was hydroplaning as the twinjet lost tire adhesion.
Embraer announced that fractional provider NetJets has signed an agreement to purchase 50 Phenom 300 light jets and has an option to buy 75 more. At current list prices, the deal may be worth more than $1 billion (U.S.). The aircraft, which the Brazilian manufacturer expects to begin delivering in 2013, will be specially equipped for the Berkshire Hathaway-owned NetJets and called Phenom 300 Platinum Edition.

Embraer is ahead of schedule in achieving its self-imposed 2005 goal of becoming “a major player in the business aviation market by 2015.” The Brazilian manufacturer has come to EBACE with four examples of its current product range–the Phenom 100 and 300 light jets, the super-midsize Legacy 600 and the large-cabin Lineage 1000.
Embraer began site preparation last month at Melbourne (Fla.) International Airport for a $51 million aircraft assembly and delivery center. A ceremonial ground-breaking was held for the 150,000-sq-ft plant in January, and its design received governmental approvals in May.
Brazilian aircraft maker Embraer is a relative newcomer to the business aviation market. Five years ago the company was best known for producing many regional jets and its only business airplane was the Legacy, a corporate version of the ERJ 135.
Embraer on Tuesday announced that it delivered 56 aircraft during the second quarter, including 35 regional airliners and 21 executive jets. Broken down by model, the executive jet side delivered 15 Phenom 100s (including two to an unidentified defense customer, presumably for VIP transport), five Legacy 600s and one Lineage 1000.
