Authorities in the Dominican Republic are still searching for a U.S.-registered Hawker HS125-600 that went missing on September 11 after departing Santo Domingo for Punta Cana approximately 125 miles to the east. Authorities do not know whether anyone other than the two pilots was on board at the time the aircraft disappeared.

Menominee, Mich.-based Enstrom signed a deal to deliver sixteen 480B turbine singles over the next 18 months to the Venezuela Ministry of Defense. The helicopters will be used for flight training.

Haiti Air Ambulance is partnering with Air Methods to bring helicopter EMS service to the poverty-stricken nation on a full-time basis for the first time. Beginning next month, two Air Methods Bell 407s–a primary and a dedicated back-up–will be based at a secure industrial park near the Haitian capital of Port-au-Prince and will be gearing up to fly two missions a day or about 700 hours per year.

Quest Aircraft appointed Quest Aircraft do Brasil as the Kodiak dealer for Brazil. The São José dos Campos-based dealer accepted the first Kodiak to be based in Brazil last week, and the turboprop single is now on a demonstration tour in the Latin American country. Quest has delivered five Kodiaks to customers in Latin America over the past two months, so it is optimistic about the aircraft’s prospects in Brazil. The Kodiak received Brazilian certification in 2012 and is certified in 16 countries, with several additional certifications “imminent.”

Constant Aviation has been awarded the Aruba certificate of acceptance. The certification authorizes Constant’s Cleveland facility to perform and sign off maintenance for any Aruban-registered aircraft. A large maintenance inspection including an avionics upgrade for an Aruban operator led the company to obtain the certificate of acceptance.

Details of how an old Mexican-registered Hawker came to be destroyed after entering Venezuelan airspace last week remained unclear at press time.

The Latin Times, a U.S.-based online Latino news source, reported November 7 that a Venezuelan military aircraft shot down a Hawker 125-400A after it illegally entered Venezuelan airspace near the Colombian border in the southern state of Apure.

ASIG Panamá expanded its services in Panama at the beginning of this month, launching aircraft fueling services at Albrook “Marcos A. Gelbert” International Airport on October 1. As operator of the airport’s sole fuel facility, the company provides fueling service for all general aviation and domestic commercial flights at the airport.

Gulfstream Aerospace has appointed Luiz Sandler as its new regional vice president of sales for South America. He is replacing Bill Arrazola, who recently retired. His sales territory spans Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, French Guiana, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname and Uruguay.

Since 2007, Sandler served as sales director with International Jet Traders, which is Gulfstream’s sales representative for Brazil. Before that he was Embraer’s regional sales manager for Latin America.
