Abu Dhabi-based executive charter operator Prestige Jet this week became the latest business aviation company to sign up as an exhibitor at the new Bahrain International Air Show to be held in the Arabian Gulf state next year (January 21-23).
Bell 212, Persian Gulf, United Arab Emirates, Sept. 3, 2008–All seven people aboard the Aerogulf Services Bell 212 were killed when the helicopter hit a crane while taking off from an oil rig in the Persian Gulf. The helicopter had flown cargo from Dubai. After unloading the cargo, it lifted off the helipad, hovered and moved backward into the crane.

The first Gulf VIP Executive Jet, Luxury Yacht & Elite Car Interiors Exhibition will take place at the Bahrain International Exhibition & Convention Centre from March 3 to 5, 2009. To date, a number of globally recognized companies have confirmed their interest in Gulf VIP 2009. Almost 124,000 sq ft of exhibition space has been allocated and the organizers expect more than 150 exhibitors and 5,000 visitors.
Gulf VIP, an event for the Middle East’s ultra-rich that promotes executive jet interiors to the “the lucrative markets of Qatar, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia” is scheduled for March 4 to 6 in the Persian Gulf island kingdom of Bahrain. Organized by the French firm Business Conventions International (BCI), Gulf VIP will also feature interiors for yachts and exotic cars with $100,000+ price tags.
The first annual Gulf VIP Executive Jet, Luxury Yacht & Elite Car Interiors exhibition is scheduled for November 11 to 13 at the Bahrain International Exhibition & Convention Center and Bahrain International Airport.
In a major deal announced at the Dubai Air Show last month, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of the Interior ordered 40 Sikorskys. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in March.
Oman-based regional aircraft spares supplier Dahra Logistics & Marketing is planning to open an office in Dubai next March to tap into the fast-growing aviation market here in the United Arab Emirates. “Already, new airlines such as Air Arabia and Etihad are growing fast,” observed Dahra’s CEO, Khamis Obaid Mubarak Al-Ajmi.
Abu Dhabi will host the first-ever Arab Aviation Security Conference Feb. 6 to 9, 2006, and two months later, on April 3 to 6, Dubai will host the region’s largest aviation and maritime security event: the Airport, Port and Transport Security-Middle East (APTS-ME).
