A Canadian Coast Guard MBB (Eurocopter) Bo-105 on a research support flight crashed into the Arctic Sea on September 10, killing all three people aboard. The helicopter was operating from the icebreaker Amundsen when it went down in the M’Clure Strait off the coast of Banks Island in the Western Arctic.
Pilots at the offshore helicopter transport company ratified a three-year deal that provides for 4 percent annual wage increases retroactive to March 26, 2012. The new contract covers 235 helicopter pilots flying in the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska.
Temsco Helicopters, one of Alaska’s largest operators, has chosen British Columbia-based Latitude Technologies (Booth No. 3235) to provide voice and flight-following satcom equipment and services for its fleet of more than 50 helicopters. The Latitude SkyNode S220-021 device, with two-way Iridium data communication capability, will support Temsco’s construction, pipeline, exploration, SAR and EMS operations from five Alaska bases.
