Arinc Direct, the business aviation arm of Annapolis, Md.-based Arinc, has introduced an RVSM modification and certification package for the Cessna 500 series that uses the Shadin ADC-6000 dual air-data computer with right-side altimeter. Arinc Direct can provide all the needed aircraft modifications, and can perform them at its location or a site chosen by the customer.

Eurocontrol has introduced a new screen-to-screen datalink between pilots and air traffic controllers at its Maastricht upper-area control (UAC) center in the Netherlands. The controller-pilot datalink communication (CPDLC) system supplements existing voice contact by allowing text messages between screens in the cockpit and on the ground to reduce workload at both ends.

You’ve probably never given it much thought, but recording and updating those ATIS voice messages is a royal pain in the neck for controllers. Arinc last month unveiled a new product package that the company said makes digital ATIS service cost effective for smaller airfields frequented by business aircraft.

Arinc Direct, the recently formed business aviation unit of Annapolis, Md.-based Arinc, announced it is teaming with Shadin and AeroMech to offer a package of RVSM avionics and approval documentation for 500-series Citations. The avionics include a Shadin instrument cluster designed for the Citation, an Arinc installation kit and the STCs needed to bring 500-series Citation airframes into compliance with RVSM rules.

Gulfstream yesterday ordered 40 of Arinc’s new SkyLink inflight broadband satellite communications systems for installation on its jets. It is the launch order for the system, which Arinc claims offers Internet connections that are five times faster and a third the price of Inmarsat’s rival Swift64 service.

Air Routing International has teamed up with Arinc and Lufthansa Technik Ag in separate ventures, the company announced. Air Routing and Arinc are offering bizjet operators “a portfolio of more than 25 flight services for business aviation under the trade name Arinc Direct,” said the Annapolis, Md. company, a datalink provider.

Airborne data access at speeds 50 times faster than previously possible with existing satcom systems is claimed for the new aeronautical data terminal (ADT-1000) designed by EMS Technologies of Ottawa, Canada. The dual-channel unit, EMS said, is compatible with all Arinc 741 Aero-H/H+ satcom antennas, including the AMT-50, produced by its satcom division.
