The galley of a single- or twin-aisle executive aircraft has rarely been a particularly passenger-friendly place. Welcome to 2011 and the “VVIP Lounge Galley” from German design firm Loher Raumexklusiv. The Wallersdorf-Haidlfing designer has come up with a sophisticated art deco design concept introduced for an A340 at the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg.
Flightline First opened a new FBO facility at Lakefront Airport in New Orleans late last month. The FBO is located in a classic building dating from the 1920s next to the airport’s famous art deco terminal building, which is undergoing restoration to its former glory. Both the terminal and Fliteline’s 20,000-sq-ft hangar were heavily damaged during Hurricane Katrina.
The Million Air FBO at Lakefront Airport in New Orleans reopened the historic 1930s-era art deco Moffett hangar, following repairs of damage sustained during Hurricane Katrina. Compared with the rest of the airport, the hangar suffered little damage due to its unusual design. The hangar roof is made of concrete panels, a few of which fell in during the storm and had to be replicated.
