The Mitsubishi MRJ might have attracted its most powerful project partner yet, as Japan’s Toyota Motor Company contemplates a major investment in the two-aircraft regional jet series. According to Japan’s Asahi newspaper, Toyota plans to invest 10 billion yen ($96.8 billion) in the MRJ, scheduled for industrial launch within weeks. Under the partnership, Mitsubishi will retain a 60-percent stake in the company.

Eurocopter has denied a report in the March 7 Washington Times that it sent spare parts to Iraq for its Gazelle military helicopters. A Eurocopter spokesman told AIN that since August 1990, the Marseilles, France-based helicopter manufacturer has “strictly observed the terms of United Nations resolution 661,” embargoing the export of military goods to Iraq.

United Arab Emirates-based Prestige Jet has signed an agreement to provide EMS flights for Flight Ambulance International (FAI). The company will operate a fleet of Bombardier Learjet 55s from bases in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. FAI is based in Nuremberg, Germany, and provides evacuation flights out of Africa. The Middle East is a growing part of its business, already accounting for 8 percent of operations.

GE Aviation and Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE) have signed a memorandum of understanding for global cooperation.

As part of the agreement, GE and DAE will collaborate in several areas related to the commercial aerospace industry based on their respective competencies and capabilities which, among other interests, include assisting DAE in the development of MRO capabilities.
