Aspen Avionics has moved aggressively into the helicopter marketplace and is displaying its Evolution flight display glass cockpit systems in three helicopters at the Heli-Expo static display, a Schweizer 300C, Robinson R44 and Enstrom 480B.

The EA100 adapter converts digital attitude data to analog for older autopilots and eliminates the need to maintain old and expensive mechanical gyro systems such as the King KI256.

System ground tests and static structural stress testing of production-conforming aircraft continue at the HondaJet research and development center in Greensboro, N.C., as Honda Aircraft’s light business jet proceeds toward planned certification and first delivery in the third quarter of 2012.

Emteq Nets Challenger 850 Completions Work
Avionics, maintenance and lighting specialist Emteq (Booth No. 1265) of New Berlin, Wisconsin, has received two interior completion contracts from Midcoast of St. Louis Downtown Airport in Cahokia, Illinois. The projects, to convert Bombardier Challenger 850s, will be completed at ACS-NAI, Emteq’s facility in Winnipeg, Canada, for delivery in the third quarter of this year.

Aspen Avionics is exhibiting at this month’s Heli-Expo convention in Houston, marking the first time the six-year-old company has had a presence at a helicopter show.
Vector Aerospace Helicopter Services has received an FAA supplemental type certificate (STC) for an integrated cockpit display system (ICDS) in the Bell 407. EASA and Transport Canada certification are pending. Vector developed the 407 STC in partnership with Safran Group’s Sagem Avionics.
Clifford Development and Stevens Aviation have expanded their Clifford Citation 550 and S550 engine conversion partnership. Stevens Aviation will install an optional Rockwell Collins three-display Pro Line 21 IDS that is certified in a dual AHRS (attitude-heading reference system)/turbulence radar configuration.
