Grant Hundley, president of Global Appearance Partners, spent nine years with NetJets as manager of aircraft appearance for the U.S.-based fleet. Last October “I thought it was time to move on and do something different based on what I’d learned about the detailing business. What we’ve done is develop a different approach to aircraft detailing,” he told AIN.

A new Airworthiness Directive targeting Learjet 60 tires requires revising the tire-servicing section of the airplane maintenance manual and the tires limitation section of the airplane flight manual. It calls for servicing tires and checking for proper tire inflation and is based on a report of main landing-gear tires blowing out during takeoff roll.

Single Point Assist has launched a new AOG subscription service tailored for destinations in Asia and Latin America. Operators can register with the company on a monthly or yearly plan. Upon encountering a maintenance issue, subscribers contact Single Point Assist, which will dispatch a local technician, usually line mechanics from the airline industry, who can quickly diagnose and repair the problem.

Transport Canada last month notified the FAA of a potentially dangerous fuel system defect in Bombardier’s new CRJ700 regional jet, prompting the U.S. agency to issue an emergency AD for the model. According to Transport Canada, CRJ700s may experience uncommanded fuel transfer between the wing tanks and the center tank, creating a condition in which the center tank can overfill and leak.

An NTSB preliminary report suggests that the Beechcraft King Air B90 (N10TM) that crashed into a parking lot in Chattanooga, Tenn., on September 19 ran out of fuel. The airplane was substantially damaged after hitting a light pole and cartwheeling into parked cars, but the ATP-rated pilot and three passengers received only minor injuries. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed.

Keeping today’s turbine-powered aircraft clean might not be rocket science, but it isn’t like washing a car, either. There is now a program that teaches aircraft detailers the safe and proper procedures for detailing all aspects of turbine-aircraft exteriors and interiors.

Aero Spa services include “trip ready” interior cleaning, wet or dry washes, hand waxing, machine buffing, bright work, de-ice boot refurbish and carpet shampoo and extraction. The service is offered as a standalone or in conjunction with line service or maintenance.
