Air BP recently added 16 airports to its Chinese fuel network for general aviation customers, extending the fuel supplier’s reach from Beijing in the North along the central corridor, to Shenzhen in the South with new airports being served in the provinces of Guangdong, Guangxi, Hunan, Hubei and Henan. With these additions, Air BP provides fuel for international GA clients at 20 Chinese airports. The new airport locations are being operated in conjunction with Air BP’s local joint-venture partner, South China Bluesky Aviation Oil Company.

Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur (ACA), the aviation group that manages and owns the French airports Cannes Mandelieu, Saint-Tropez and Nice Cote d’Azur, tapped Air BP to be the sole fuel supplier at Cannes Mandelieu Airport, the companies announced today at the NBAA Schedulers and Dispatchers Conference in New Orleans.

Atlantic FuelEx has been appointed as a member of the steering committee of the Arab Air Carriers Organization (AACO). The Dubai-based company is the first fuel reseller to be appointed to the group, which is focused on improving the reliability and quality of fuel supplies to carriers in the region.

Air BP secured the first major Asia-Pacific client for its global fuel card when it signed a deal this week with Beijing-based aircraft management and charter operator Deer Jet. Under the agreement, Air BP is providing its Sterling Card for each of Deer Jet’s 62 business jets. The card’s “independent oil company status” will allow Deer Jet to purchase aircraft fuel worldwide. Further, Sterling Card benefits include 24/7 support from the global Air BP out-of-hours team, which provides response service for queries and access to its interactive paperless electronic invoicing system.

Petrobras

While the name on the side of the refueling truck might say Air BP, BR Aviation or Shell, what’s inside it at any airport in Brazil all comes from the same source. All discussions of aviation fuel in the country must start with Petróleo Brasileiro (Petrobras), the national oil refiner of Brazil and the official supplier of Jet-A and avgas. Petrobras produces approximately 70 percent of the Jet-A used in the country and imports the remainder in its effort to supply the three major distributors.

Shell Fuel distributor Eastern Aviation Fuels has bolstered its California footprint with the addition of three new FBO dealers. Landmark Aviation’s locations at San Diego International Airport (SAN), Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Metropolitan Oakland International (OAK) will now be participating in the Shell AeroClass customer loyalty program, while LAX and OAK will also offer Shell contract fuel. Customs and immigration clearance is available at all three locations.

Aircraft operations in Indiana are about to become more affordable after state legislators approved a slate of aviation tax exemptions and restructurings. The measures, adopted at the urging of the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association (AOPA) and other aviation groups, remove state sales tax on jet fuel and 100LL avgas and restructure the previously existing excise tax on aviation fuel to a fixed total state tax rate.

Aviation Training Academy (ATA) has launched an online training course intended for FBOs, corporate flight departments, municipalities or anyone else involved with aviation fueling operations. The curriculum includes topics such as specifications and distribution of aviation fuels, procedures for receiving a bulk fuel delivery, aviation fuel filtration, quality control and testing, fuel-farm maintenance and operation, ramp safety and fire training. Cost of the course, which is available through the company’s website, is $395.

Canada’s National Research Council (NRC) achieved a milestone in the quest for adoption of biofuels when it made the first flight by a civil jet powered by 100-percent unblended biofuel. At the end of October, the NRC’s Dassault Falcon 20 made the historic flight over Ottawa, burning a new biofuel known as ReadiJet, derived from Brassica carinata, an inedible oilseed crop provided by feedstock producer Agrisoma Biosciences.
