Gulf Coast Avionics last month became an authorized sales and installation center for the Alliant King Air flight deck offered jointly by Avidyne and S-Tec. Designed for the King Air 200, the cockpit features dual Avidyne EX5000 primary flight displays, EX500 multifunction display with XM WX datalink and electronic approach chart capabilities and the S-Tec Intelliflight digital autopilot.

Add Belgium’s Barco to the list of companies interested in entering the market for business aircraft avionics. The company will supply the displays for Honeywell’s Apex integrated avionics system and says it is also developing a range of displays, computers and applications that could be brought to business aviation as OEM or retrofit products.

Eclipse Aviation is facing further issues in its effort to begin deliveries of its very light jet and sent a 12-page letter to customers November 14 outlining wing-attach fitting and cockpit window cracking problems. Following receipt of FAA type certification on September 30, Eclipse has yet to deliver its first airplane but expects to do so within days, president and CEO Vern Raburn told AIN.

The Alliant integrated avionics and autopilot suite received FAA supplemental type certification for the Beech King Air 200 yesterday. Alliant is a partnership between autopilot manufacturer S-Tec and avionics-maker Avidyne. The King Air 200 installation includes two Avidyne Envision EXP5000 PFDs with built-in solid-state gyros and air-data system and an EX500 MFD coupled with S-Tec’s Intelli-Flight 2100 digital flight control system.

The Alliant integrated avionics and autopilot suite received an STC for installation in the Beech King Air 200 during the NBAA Convention. Alliant is a partnership between autopilot maker S-Tec and avionics supplier Avidyne.

A partnership between S-Tec and Avidyne offers King Air 200 operators a large-display glass cockpit/autopilot upgrade, with FAA supplemental type certification expected shortly and deliveries to dealers beginning this quarter. The Alliant package should be the first large-display King Air system to receive an STC, although
Universal Avionics developed the first certified retrofit modern King Air LCD system.
