Banyan Avionics, exhibiting at Booth No. 4664, announced the installation of a high-speed data and WiFi suite in a Boeing Business Jet, performed at the customer’s home hangar during downtime for a maintenance inspection. The project began by installing a Honeywell HD-710 satellite communication system and EMS Satcom CNX-200 router to retrofit the existing Honeywell Model MCS-6000 satcom system.

Fort Lauderdale, Florida-based Banyan Air Service is expanding its capabilities to include avionics installations in large-cabin business jets. The company’s avionics department recently completed the installation of a cabin entertainment system in a Gulfstream IV-SP, EVS in a Falcon 900B and satellite TV and high-speed-data satcom in a privately owned Boeing 747SP.

Banyan Air Service president Don Campion announced earlier this year his FBO has acquired the assets and adjoining leasehold formerly owned by Cav-Air at Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Executive Airport (FXE). The new real estate adds 35 acres of prime center-field area to Banyan’s existing 50 acres. Assets included in the deal were Cav-Air’s fixed-wing maintenance division, parts distribution business and line-service concession.

As the Florida company has grown, president and head coach Don Campion has strived to maintain that small-company feel. “One of my driving forces in building this business is to be good at what we do as opposed to being a bigger company with a lot of branches or a chain,” he told AIN.
