Fort Lauderdale FBO Banyan Aviation held the third customer appreciation event at its Hangar63 aviation store in late April. The store held a raffle of prizes donated by Bose, Garmin, David Clark, Telex, Lightspeed, Flightcom, Revere Supply, ACR Electronics, Icom, Avfuel, Oakley, Ray-Ban and Serengeti Eyewear.

At spring-break time, the city would erupt with partying young people, but during the rest of the year it was business as usual, a South Florida far removed from today’s frenetic, beach-front high-rise metropolis.

StandardAero and Banyan Air Service have signed a support center agreement authorizing Banyan as a StandardAero-approved installation facility for the Cessna 208 Caravan engine-upgrade program. Banyan is a Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport-based FBO and maintenance facility.

Banyan Avionics, exhibiting at Booth No. 4664, announced the installation of a high-speed data and WiFi suite in a Boeing Business Jet, performed at the customer’s home hangar during downtime for a maintenance inspection. The project began by installing a Honeywell HD-710 satellite communication system and EMS Satcom CNX-200 router to retrofit the existing Honeywell Model MCS-6000 satcom system.

A few years ago, who would have thought fingerprinting would be one of the services offered at an FBO? But in today’s security climate, Banyan Air Service at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (FXE), Fla., can be justly proud of its status as a TSA-approved fingerprinter for pilots from surrounding businesses.

Banyan celebrated its third annual AMT Day (May 24) by honoring its maintenance and avionics technicians. Dave Valenta, Banyan’s director of maintenance, and Lou Homsher, Banyan’s quality assurance manager, organized the event.

Banyan Air Service president Don Campion announced earlier this year his FBO has acquired the assets and adjoining leasehold formerly owned by Cav-Air at Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Executive Airport (FXE). The new real estate adds 35 acres of prime center-field area to Banyan’s existing 50 acres. Assets included in the deal were Cav-Air’s fixed-wing maintenance division, parts distribution business and line-service concession.

Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Banyan Air Service is expanding its capabilities to include avionics installations in large-cabin business jets. The company’s avionics department recently completed the installation of a cabin entertainment system in a Gulfstream IV-SP, EVS in a Falcon 900B and satellite tv and high-speed-data satcom in a privately owned Boeing 747SP.
