At NBAA’s Schedulers & Dispatchers annual conference this week in San Antonio, AIN caught up with Maria Sastre, the recently promoted president of Signature Flight Support.
BBA Aviation Engine Repair and Overhaul (ERO) has made several additions to its global support staff. In the Asia Pacific region, the maintenance provider (Booth No. 3100) has added Luke Chiang, most recently director of regional jet sales at Jet Aviation, as a regional sales manager of its Singapore-based sales team. The center, which opened in Singapore this year, now includes a territorial director and three regional sales managers. The company also named Wayne Thompson as a regional field service engineer based in Brisbane, Australia.
Dallas Airmotive is anticipating that 2012 will be its busiest year ever in terms of field service support events in North America. The engine service provider, which is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year, had 2,600 service calls last year ranging from engine borescope inspections to full engine changes and is on track to exceed 3,000 such events this year.
Luke Chiang has joined BBA Aviation Engine Repair and Overhaul as regional sales manager. Chiang will be responsible for sales of business and general aviation engine services throughout Asia-Pacific and for non-B&GA markets such as government/business services for the Southern Asia-Pacific region. Chiang joins ERO after a six-year career with Jet Aviation Singapore, where he started as a sales manager and advanced to his most recent position of director of regional sales.
BBA Aviation subsidiary Signature Flight Support has added a facility at Edmonton International Airport to its global aviation support network. Airside FBO Operations signed an agreement to become a licensed Signature location, the second in Canada, joining the company’s facility at Pierre Trudeau Montreal International. The newly built facility has four 20,000-sq-ft hangars, a 9,000-sq-ft terminal and office space.
Global aviation support and aftermarket services provider BBA Aviation signed a seven-year lease extension that also expands its downtown Orlando, Fla. corporate headquarters offices to accommodate expected growth. Signature Flight Support and Aircraft Service Group International (ASIG), along with parent company BBA Aviation, collectively have more than 1,000 employees in Florida, with almost 200 based in downtown Orlando.
Dennis Keith, president and owner of Jet Solutions, has been selected as chairman of the Air Charter Safety Foundation. He succeeds Jim Christiansen, whose term expires at the end of June.
Dallas Airmotive’s Singapore regional turbine center has been awarded an operating certificate from the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS). The facility is authorized by Honeywell for TFE731 major periodic inspection (MPI) services and line maintenance on TFE731, CFE738 and HTF7000 engines as well as line maintenance on RE100, RE220 and 36-series APUs.
The 5,000-sq-ft facility is staffed by six employees, including five certified mechanics and engineering-level personnel.
Dallas Airmotive, a division of Texas-based BBA Aviation, has announced that its Singapore Regional Turbine Center has received its operating certificate from the country’s Civil Aviation Authority.
Dallas Airmotive, a BBA Aviation company that officially opened its Singapore Regional Turbine Center (RTC) at Seletar Airport on Monday, expects business to come from some 650 jets in Asia including a mix of pre-owned jets and an ever-increasing new general aviation planes being purchased by China and emerging economies. There are many opportunities for growth in Asia, said BBA Aviation president Hugh McElroy, and Singapore’s business climate makes it the right place from which to achieve this growth.
