Boeing’s ABACE static display featured a BBJ delivered by Bizjet International of Tulsa, Okla., Lufthansa Technik’s single-aisle completions subsidiary, to Nanshan Jet in October for an undisclosed Chinese customer.
Completions, refurbishment and auxiliary fuel tank provider PATS Aircraft Systems of Delaware (Booth H412) announced here at ABACE 2014 the redelivery of a BBJ2 to the Government of Indonesia for presidential transport, and the contract award of a VVIP interior completion on a new BBJ2 for an Asia Pacific customer.
Boeing Business Jets (Chalet 7) announced last week the first sale of its new BBJ Max 8 executive airliner. Burbank, Calif.-based Avjet Corporation negotiated the deal on behalf of the purchaser, a current BBJ operator.
“Our VIP customers are always demanding new improvements in comfort, speed and range,” said Steve Taylor, president of BBJ Aircraft Division, which is based in Seattle, Wash. “The BBJ Max will extend our lead in this segment and ensures our customers getting the best of both worlds.”
At ABACE last year, Boeing Business Jets (BBJ) marked the service entry of a BBJ owned by charter operator Nanshan Jet Co., which is based in Yanti, China. This year BBJ and Nanshan Jet are partnering on their presence at ABACE 2014 and are also cohosting a dinner for select customers, according to Chuck Colburn, BBJ director of marketing.
Boeing received the launch order for the Boeing Business Jet Max yesterday. The order, from an undisclosed existing BBJ operator, is for a BBJ Max 8, a derivative based on the 737 Max 8.
“We are honored that an existing BBJ customer has become the first to select the BBJ Max,” said Boeing Business Jets president Steve Taylor. “The BBJ Max provides more room, longer range and produces fewer emissions than its nearest competition, making it an ideal choice for today’s BBJ customers.”
Boeing Business Jets has delivered two BBJ 787-8 business jets since late January. Handover of the green aircraft took place the same week, to separate undisclosed customers, the airframer said.
It holds a total of 13 firm orders for the BBJ 787-8 and delivery of another three are planned this year. The first one had been delivered in December. Boeing claims the BBJ 787-8 has a range of about 9,260 nm.
Separately, the first BBJ 747-8 is expected to enter into service this year.
Boeing Business Jets announced yesterday that it made the first two BBJ 787-8 deliveries of 2014 over the past week to separate undisclosed customers. These aircraft mark the second and third BBJ 787s delivered to date, after the first one was handed over to a customer in December. Like all BBJs, the airplanes were delivered green and are undergoing completion at third-party outfitting centers.
Amac recently completed its second BBJ 777-300ER for a private customer in the Middle East. The work consisted of a full maintenance C-check and interior modifications such as a newly integrated master bedroom, master en suite and majlis (private seating area).
BizJet International announced here at NBAA 2013 that it has shipped its first BBJ from its Tulsa, Okla. facility to China’s Nanshan Group and has now taken delivery of its first Rolls-Royce Tay Mk611-8C engines for midlife inspections.
“We are underway with achieving midlife inspections and correlating test cell for the -8C,” said Criss Berry, vice-president engine services for the company. BizJet will deliver the completed engines to the customer in November.
Ferentino, Italy-based Iacobucci HF is displaying its cabin interior components here this week. The company (Booth No. N4916) has brought its line of customizable cabin seats, including its newest entrée: the VIP Jet Series Double Seat, which is expected to receive EASA and FAA certification by the end of the month.
