Hawker Beechcraft had a busy start to EBACE 2010 yesterday, packing its massive static display here in Geneva with new customers. Then, while the delivery presentation was under way, it finally received European certification for its flagship Hawker 4000 before announcing both a new derivative product and a European partnership.

Rizon Jet is in the final stages of construction for two new FBOs in Europe and the Middle East. In July, it expects to open almost identical hangars with adjoining lounges and offices at London Biggin Hill Airport and at its Doha headquarters in Qatar.

Eastham Aviation, a Houston owner of a Hawker Beechcraft Premier 1A, filed a complaint against Hawker Beechcraft on January 19, asking that the manufacturer take back the jet because of three alleged and irreparable instances of runaway rudder trim. Eastham purchased the jet in 2006.

The updated version of the Premier was expected to fly in December but that has been moved to this month, according to Hawker Beechcraft. The Premier II will offer improved efficiency thanks to its 3,050-pound-thrust Williams International FJ44-3AP engines.

Hawker Beechcraft on Tuesday reported an operating loss of $712 million on sales of $3.2 billion last year, compared with an operating profit of $140.3 million on $3.5 billion in sales in 2008. Besides lower sales last year, the company was affected by non-cash impairment and other charges totaling $726.4 million in the third quarter.

Hawker Beechcraft is establishing a new sales and customer support team in this part of the world. The U.S. manufacturer has recruited former Asia Jet CEO Justin Firestone as its new president for the AsiaPacific region. Firestone will continue to be based in Hong Kong and will lead a network of staff extending in Beijing, Singapore and Australia.

Hawker Beechcraft restructured its Hawker Beechcraft Services, Rapid and Hawker Beechcraft Customer Support into a single organization called Hawker Beechcraft Global Customer Support. Additionally, in an effort to define more clearly its role within the organization, the company’s parts and distribution division, formerly known as Rapid, is now Hawker Beechcraft Parts and Distribution.
