Year-over-year airplane deliveries declined again in the third quarter, but revenue at the manufacturers took a much smaller dip. According to the third-quarter shipment report released last month by the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA), this marked the industry’s eighth straight quarterly slide in deliveries, with overall shipments down 14.5 percent compared with the first three quarters of last year.

Hawker Beechcraft (HBC) announced the rebranding of its Premier light jet as the Hawker 200 and introduced the King Air 250, a replacement for the King Air 200GT, at the NBAA Convention yesterday. Hawker Beechcraft King Air B200, Sioux City, Iowa, Jan. 19, 2010–The King Air was substantially damaged when it departed the runway on landing at Sioux Gateway Airport/Col. Bud Day Field (SUX). The early-morning Part 91 flight was operating on an IFR flight plan from Des Moines International Airport, and the pilots had filed Rapid City Regional Airport (RAP), their next destination, as an alternate.
Raytheon Systems Ltd. (RSL) has revealed details of the Shadow R1, a modification of the Hawker Beechcraft King Air 350ER that was done in the UK as an urgent operational requirement for the UK Royal Air Force. The four aircraft were delivered last year without fanfare to No 5. squadron, which also operates the five Sentinel R1 (Astor) surveillance jets provided by RSL. They have since been deployed to Afghanistan.

Hawker Beechcraft has won STC approval from both the FAA and EASA for the Alteos interactive window system for its King Air 350i. The system, which is assembled and sold by PPG Industries through its Alteos brand, uses proprietary electrochromic technology from Gentex. It allows the user to lighten or darken the window by increasing or decreasing the electrical current passing through a gel layer between the layers of glass.
Hawker Beechcraft has added the MaxViz EVS-1500 enhanced-vision system to its parts and distribution order system for operators of King Air 200 and 300 twin turboprops. The approval allows operators of in-service King Airs to install the infrared camera for viewing in the cockpit on video-capable displays.
