Hawker Beechcraft Corp. has selected Hong Kong-based Avion Logistics Ltd. as an authorized parts distributor for Asia. Scheduled to start operating on March 15, Avion Logistics becomes a part of Hawker Beechcraft’s rapid aircraft parts Inventory and distribution (RAPID) network. The new company is a joint venture between Avion Pacific and Seacor.

Hawker Beechcraft Beechjet 400A, Sarasota, Fla., July 12, 2004–According to the NTSB, the double engine flameout of the Flight Options Beechjet was caused by high-altitude ice crystals that accreted on the compressor vanes and were ingested into the high-pressure compressor when the power levers were retarded, causing compressor surges and flameouts.

Hawker Beechcraft King Air 200, Salmon, Idaho, Dec. 10, 2007–Trying to return for a landing immediately after taking off from Lemhi County Airport in a snowstorm “of varying intensity,” the King Air crashed into a hangar. The commercial pilot and a passenger were killed and the airplane, owned and operated by QB Corp., was destroyed.

Cutter Aviation Phoenix has received an FAA STC approval for the installation of dual Rockwell Collins AHS-3000 attitude heading reference systems on the Beechjet 400A. The STC allows for simple replacement of the aging and soon-to-be-obsolete AHS-85E AHRS. All new Hawker Beechcraft 400XPs will soon be coming off the line with the AHS-3000 system installed.

Hawker Beechcraft delivered 120 business airplanes in the fourth quarter, up from 94 aircraft shipped in the last quarter of 2006. The Wichita-based manufacturer delivered 319 business jets and turboprops last year, a 13.9-percent increase from the 280 business aircraft shipped in 2006.
